What We Do
Developing Indigenous Tourism
We work with Indigenous communities in Fiji to develop and promote sustainable, resilient and equitable tourism experiences that celebrate our unique cultures and traditions. Our goal is to empower these communities economically while preserving their heritage and environment.
Raising Awareness
We believe that education is key to promoting sustainable tourism practices and preserving Indigenous Fijian natural and cultural heritage. We organize workshops and events to raise awareness about the importance of Indigenous tourism and how regenerative development can play a vital role in empowering Fijians.
Building A Community
We aim to create a strong network of Indigenous tourism operators, community members, private sector, NGOs, advocates and other stakeholders to support each other and work towards a common goal: promoting sustainable, resilient and regenerative Indigenous tourism in Fiji.
How We Work
At Viti Indigenous Tourism Alliance, we work closely with Indigenous resource owners to identify their unique strengths and challenges. We then provide them with the necessary advice, resource, network and support to develop sustainable and resilient tourism projects that benefit their communities. Our approach is collaborative and community-driven, ensuring that the communities are in control of their tourism destiny.
Our Team
The current interim leadership and implementation team is comprised of Fiji's leading and foremost indigenous practitioners, and experts in strategic planning, tourism, research, and communications.
